Euthanizing animals???

Zoos…

I took a closer look to what zoos really are up to when it comes to their animals (which they should protect not slaughter). It seems that many zoos (not all though) euthanize animals when they don’t have a use for them anymore. Me personally? I’m disgusted by the very idea that, first, they want them, than… euthanize them if the zoos want to get rid of them.

I’m not against euthanizing animals, god forbid, four of my beloved cats were euthanized, but they were old and very sick. The first one had cancer, exactly were the stomach ends and intestines start, so she could eat anymore. We gave the vet the go-ahead to cut her open to see how bad it was. Turned out that he couldn't safe her, so as not to let her suffer unnecessarily we decided that the vet put her down. You can imagine the pain both hubby and felt at making such a huge decision. But we promised each other that when we decided to take on pet we would never let them unnecessarily suffer.

Our second cat Anthony had spine problems he was fifteen, so when finally he wasn't able to walk anymore and only cried out in pain, we knew that, sadly, it was his time to cross the rainbow bridge. We had our cats for over fourteen years and in period of four years we lost all of them, this was a hard time.

We now have a li’ll dog called Max. He’s a mixed breed and a sweetheart. Max was seven weeks when he came to live with us; our last cat was thirteen by that time. Two years later we lost our last cat she had a few strokes and kidney failure, because of her age.

What I want to say is that having one or more animals brings obligation and responsibility into your life! If it’s a zoo or you as a single person, it shouldn't matter!

More to come…
