Good news and more good news, but not just...

Thursday governor Jan Brewer of the state of Arizona vetoed the introduction of a controversial anti-gay-law that makes it possible for companies to refuse homosexuals for religious reasons. Now my question is…didn't they learn anything from the past? Today is about refusing gay’s for religious reasons, tomorrow its people who have brown eyes, what comes after that?

These kinds of laws are so outdated; I didn't think thoughts like this would ever reach the senate. For god’s sake, don’t they have more urgent matters to attend? Is this what the tax payer is actually paying for? Just to harass people? Doesn't the bible say thou shalt love their neighbor? The thing with religion is that you can bend it any way you want. Which basically means you can interpret the bible any way you like. That’s makes religious so very dangerous, think of the radicals who act in the name of god or Allah.

My motto is to live and let live, love is a beautiful thing and the gay couples I know are all wonderful people. They are kind and care about their family and friends, and that’s more than I can say of some straight people. So to love the same sex, is it really wrong? I don’t think so, what counts is the unconditional love between people, no more and no less. If religion would see it my way, there would be less war and more peace and respect for mankind.

My deepest respect for Jan Brewer governor of the State of Arizona, I bow and salute this lady!

 PETA

Maker of Newport cigarettes (Lorillard Tobacco Company) BANS animal testing after speaking with PETA. This is a huge success, for all those poor primates who were forced to smoke the nasty and deadly cigarettes. Volkswagen USA agreed to stop the primate commercial after PETA explained that primates are abused and suffering because of it!

It makes me sick to my stomach to know that there are monsters walking this beautiful earth and destroy all that’s dear to us, the normal and social human beings.  I help out any way I can but as my health isn't that great my help is limited to signing petitions and sending letters to companies who abuse animals. Also I try to tell as many people as I possibly can and I hope that at least some of them actually start to sign petitions and share the horrific articles about animal abuse!

I can’t look at the recordings that were made at a horror facility where they torture animals. I can’t hear them scream, because I would even get less sleep at night. I often lie awake only because of the pictures I see.

But, as long as people look the other way, it will not stop the abuse of innocent animals! Looking the other way doesn't make it go way, on the contrary, if you stay silent, the abuse will even increase.

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)

This year’s event will take place on July 6st!

(CRY) Cardiac Risk in the Young

Every year I travel to London to join the CRY WALK charity event. The CRY foundation provides Pre-screening for children and adults alike throughout the UK. The pre-screening is necessary to detect hidden heart condition (undetected heart diseases). I know for sure that many of you read about it in the newspapers, I know I do! The most known example of a person who died from an undetected heart condition was the handsome singer from the popular boy/man band ‘Boyzone’.  Stephen Gately was on a much needed holiday with his husband, on the island of Mallorca when he went to sleep, to never wake up again. Stephen died at the tender age of only 33. It turned out he too had an undetected heart condition called Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS). By pre-screening especially young children, the CRY foundation saved already many, many lives.

People never wake up again, soccer players who collapse on the field in full cardiac arrest. They never were sick before and they lived healthy. When a person suffers from an undetected heart condition, he or she doesn't know that they are in danger of dying.

Only pre-screening can tell if some is affected by an undetected heart condition that eventually will lead to an early but unnecessary death, if it stays undetected! Every year I have mixed feelings. I made a lot of friends and once a year I meet them and together we walk the CRY heart of London Bridges Walk. Tears and sadness also walk with me, every single year. Why? Because I hear the sad and heart wrenching stories people tell me.

Two years ago, I stood in line at Starbucks, for my much needed morning coffee, and in front of me was a couple they too were there for the CRY heart of London Bridges Walk. How I knew this? Well simple really, they wore the CRY t-shirts, with a picture of a young male adult on their back. When I asked them about it, they told me the heart wrenching story of their son who went to bed one evening and the boy (of only 17 years) never woke up again. Together we shed some tears; they were such a lovely couple.
This is just one heartbreaking story, unfortunately one of many. Hearing these stories always makes me so sad. My heart breaks when I see the pain in the eyes of all those who walk in memory of a family member, friend or loved one.

Reading about this is completely different than when you actually walk with more than 1000 others, who all lost a family member to an undetected heart condition. The face of all these people (who died too young) on the t-shirts make it all so real. By seeing the faces of those who died, everyone single one of them tell his or her story through their families and friends who walk in memory of the souls who had to depart much too early from this earth.

Did you know?

That taking vitamin B prevents from losing to much hair? The hair loss doesn't stop completely, but vitamin B considerably reduces hair loss. Especially women at the age of forty + face the problem of unnecessary hair loss! Also vitamin B is good for your brain cells, and it strengthens your hair and nails.

Too much antioxidant’s is damaging for your health? Sometimes people go overboard with healthy food and that’s where gets…unhealthy! If you take antioxidants all day long the body will get an overdose and you will become sick. Your liver and kidneys can’t process an overload of the stuff and thus you’ll damage your intestines.

Elephants are the only mammals that cannot jump.

Dolphins have such acute hearing they may hear noise over a distance of nearly 25 kilometers underwater!

White sharks can survive almost three months without food?

Mosquitoes are two times more attracted by the color blue than any other color?

The earth estimated weight is about: 5,940,000,000,000,000,000,000 tons? Age, 4.6 billion years. Surface, 510,066,000 km 2. Fan Speed: The earth revolves around the sun at a speed of 107.320 km / h. The earth does 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 46 seconds to rotate around the sun.

Foie gras...

Today PETA finally booked progress in her campaign to stop geese abuse just to make money by selling foie gras. Fortnum & Mason has promised that they will not sell foie gras at its new store in Dubai. This is a huge victory and we all are very happy that they came to this humane decision.

Now as for the store that’s situated in London, well this is another story. The waiting is for Fortnum & Mason to ditch foie gras entirely.

In an ad famous actor Sir Roger Moore explains how cruel it is to force feet these poor geese in order to get foie gras. Geese become desperately ill because of the forced feeding, plus it’s super cruel and disgusting.

Artis a zoo in the Netherlands!

All the goats and even the youngsters were offered to vultures for…lunch! First people thought that the goats were euthanized because they were sick, how wrong they were! It turned out they were lunch for the predator birds, just like that, for no reason what so ever! And again kids had to stand by and watch in horror as their beloved goats from the petting zoo were being served to the vultures as lunch!

How can a zoo that stands for protection and the well-being of all animals do such a horrible thing?

Are we truly animal loves?

What makes a person an animal lover? Many people think loving their dog, cat or whatever pet they have makes them an animal lover. Personally I think this is not the correct assumption. I see many people close their eyes when it’s about animal abuse. Well newsflash for all so called animal lovers, by ignoring animal abuse, it doesn’t go away! On the contrary, if you ignore animal abuse you make it only worse.

You see, even though you love your pet to bits, it doesn’t make you automatically an animal lover.  All over the world animals need our help, think of dolphins and the magnificent orca’s being captured or even slaughtered all for money. By signing something simple as a petition, you can do a lot of good. By signing petitions, you give animals a voice; and that’s very important.

Please give it a thought and I hope you all will sign a lot of petitions, thank you!

Zoos, how safe are they really?

First of all!!! Zoo Videbaek, it was this damn zoo that unnecessarily killed the perfectly healthy giraffe called Marius!

Anyways, Marius the giraffe from the Danish Jyllands Park Zoo can be relieved (for now). Marius will not be euthanized (at least not yet!) The news of the impending euthanasia of Marius was based on a misunderstanding, according to a spokesman. However when the zoo can get their hands on a female giraffe…all bets are off! According to the zoo they are afraid that both male giraffes will start fighting once a female giraffe joins them!

Was this a statement out of fear for the repercussions from visitors and animals lovers? Or, simply the truth? (Nah..who are we kidding).

So it comes down to this! Marius (2) will stay alive until they get their murderous hands on a female giraffe. What will happen next? They will breed and then they will be scared of inbreed, so it’s only a matter of time before another male giraffe will be killed.

What scares me most thought is that, it’s all freaking legal. To kill perfectly healthy animals just because they can, is far from humane.
My questions is…how can a person, who is responsible for taking care of zoo animals as in zookeepers, participate in this? If you hear them talk about the animals in their care, they just want what’s best for the animal.  Does this include participate in killing perfectly healthy animals?

How safe are zoos for animals?
I think when it comes to it; zoos are not the safest place for animals. Take the Wilhelma zoo (Stuttgart). Last Monday they lost a magnificent polar bear. A polar bear named Anton suffered greatly before he died of eating a coat someone had dropped into his stay. Its things like this that shouldn't happen. It wouldn't have happened if they took the security for their animals a bit more serious.
As for this zoo (Wilhelma) it’s not the first time something like this happened. Some years back a hippo named Egon, succumbed to a tennis ball that was thrown in by a visitor. The very last sea elephant of that same zoo succumbed to eating a stuffed animal!

There are however zoos that really take care of their animals, like they should be and not kill perfectly healthy animals because they don’t have use for them anymore!

More to come…

Please like and share this story with as many people as you are able to. animals don’t have a voice, but we animals lover do have a voice. We should not stay silence….
Thank you! :)

Euthanizing animals???

Zoos…

I took a closer look to what zoos really are up to when it comes to their animals (which they should protect not slaughter). It seems that many zoos (not all though) euthanize animals when they don’t have a use for them anymore. Me personally? I’m disgusted by the very idea that, first, they want them, than… euthanize them if the zoos want to get rid of them.

I’m not against euthanizing animals, god forbid, four of my beloved cats were euthanized, but they were old and very sick. The first one had cancer, exactly were the stomach ends and intestines start, so she could eat anymore. We gave the vet the go-ahead to cut her open to see how bad it was. Turned out that he couldn't safe her, so as not to let her suffer unnecessarily we decided that the vet put her down. You can imagine the pain both hubby and felt at making such a huge decision. But we promised each other that when we decided to take on pet we would never let them unnecessarily suffer.

Our second cat Anthony had spine problems he was fifteen, so when finally he wasn't able to walk anymore and only cried out in pain, we knew that, sadly, it was his time to cross the rainbow bridge. We had our cats for over fourteen years and in period of four years we lost all of them, this was a hard time.

We now have a li’ll dog called Max. He’s a mixed breed and a sweetheart. Max was seven weeks when he came to live with us; our last cat was thirteen by that time. Two years later we lost our last cat she had a few strokes and kidney failure, because of her age.

What I want to say is that having one or more animals brings obligation and responsibility into your life! If it’s a zoo or you as a single person, it shouldn't matter!

More to come…

MARIUS ***RIP***

I was eighteen months when I crossed the rainbow bridge! My name is Marius, I was a cute giraffe, and this is my story.

When I was born, they all were so happy and thought I was so very cute. They all wanted to cuddle and pamper me. Humans came to the zoo, just to see me, I felt so loved. When I got a bit older humans didn't care so much anymore. I got bigger and wasn't a cute little baby anymore, even though I was still very young.

When I was eighteen months the zoo didn't had any purpose for me because I couldn't be used for their breeding program. I remember that someone called my name, telling me they had my favorite treat. So I came and I saw many people who apparently came to see me again, I was so very happy. Then all went black and I crossed the rainbow bridge.

I’m not angry at those humans who send me over the rainbow bridge; I only want to understand why I was send. I was cute, and I was perfectly healthy, so why?

My name is Marius and this is my story! It’s a short story, I know, but hey so was my life!
